[1842] - Sr Back end Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a fast-growing, mobile-first product company building AI-powered solutions for small businesses.

In this role, you will work closely with the CTO to design, build, and scale backend systems and AI capabilities that power mobile applications used daily by thousands of businesses. You’ll play a key role in shaping the technical foundations of the platform, contributing to architecture decisions, infrastructure, and data-driven features.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable backend systems

• Collaborate with mobile engineers to support existing and new applications

• Contribute to system design, architecture, and infrastructure planning

• Work with cloud services (AWS, Supabase, Cloudflare) to build and operate backend systems

• Develop internal tools, libraries, and components to improve development efficiency

• Monitor and optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability

• Contribute to CI/CD processes and data workflows

• Participate in technical discussions and help shape product and engineering decisions

Requirements

Experience

• 6+ years of experience building high-performance backend systems

• Experience working in product-focused companies

• Proven track record building scalable systems used in production

Technical Skills

• Strong backend development experience with Kotlin, Java, Go, or Python

• Experience with database design, optimization, and management

• Solid understanding of system design and architecture patterns

• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS or similar)

• Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Datadog, New Relic, or similar)

AI & Data

• Experience working with AI/ML models in production environments

• Understanding of data tracking, performance metrics, and user behavior analysis

Mindset & Collaboration

• Strong product mindset, focused on user value and business impact

• Ability to work autonomously and take ownership

• Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments

• Strong communication skills in English
